First Aid Awareness at Work

Faced with a real emergency, most people freeze. Not because they don’t care, but because they don’t know what to do, and they’re frightened of making things worse. This course is about being the person who does know, and who acts.

There is a gap between someone collapsing and the ambulance arriving, and it is usually only a few minutes long. What happens in those minutes is often decided by whoever is standing nearest. This course gives you the knowledge and the confidence to use that time well, whether the emergency happens at work, at home or in the street.

Who it’s for

Anyone who might one day have to step in:

• Employees in any sector who need solid basic first aid knowledge
• The person nominated as the workplace appointed person
• Parents, carers and anyone who simply wants life-saving skills for everyday life
• Complete beginners, no prior training needed

What you’ll come away able to do

• Understand what a first aider does, and the legal position you act within
• Check a scene for danger and run a primary survey using DRABC
• Put an unresponsive casualty into the recovery position and keep them monitored
• Perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) safely
• Treat choking, severe bleeding, burns, clinical shock and fainting

How the course works

Six short lessons, each broken into bite-sized topics with a quick practice game to make the steps stick. The lessons sit inside three modules, and each module ends with a 10-question check pulled at random from a bigger bank, so no two attempts are the same (80% to pass, three goes at each). At the end there’s a final exam that draws 20 questions from a pool of 40. Pass, and your personalised CPD-standard certificate, complete with a verifiable reference code, is issued on the spot and saved to My Account → Certificates.

Worth being clear about: this is a knowledge-based awareness course. It builds understanding and confidence, but it does not replace a practical, accredited first aid at work qualification where one is legally required.
