First Aid Box

Why you need it

Employers must provide suitable first aid equipment and arrangements, and tell staff what they are. A clear sign shows everyone where the kit is and who to go to.

In a kitchen, a cut is also a food safety risk, so staff need it covered with a waterproof dressing before they go back to food.

What it’s for

How to use it

1. Fix it on the wall directly above or beside the first aid box, where it can be seen from the kitchen.
2. Fill in the first aider’s details before you laminate it, and reprint it when they change.
3. Stock the box with blue detectable plasters for anyone working with food.
4. Check the kit regularly and replace anything used or out of date.
5. Show new starters where the box is and who to tell if they are hurt.
