PPDS Label Checklist
Food you pack on site before it is ordered needs a full label: check it before sale.

Why you need it
Food you pack on site before a customer chooses or orders it, such as sandwiches or salads in a grab-and-go chiller, is prepacked for direct sale. The customer cannot easily ask about it, so the label has to do the work.
PPDS food must carry the name of the food and a full ingredients list with the 14 regulated allergens emphasised.
What it’s for
A four-step check for PPDS labels: confirming the food is PPDS, naming it clearly, listing the full ingredients with allergens emphasised, and checking the finished pack is legible without opening it. A separate allergen chart does not replace the label. It belongs where food is packed.
How to use it
- Fix it at the packing or labelling station where PPDS food is made up.
- Check each new product against the official guidance to confirm it really is PPDS.
- Build the ingredients list from the current recipe and supplier labels, including compound ingredients.
- Check a finished pack against the recipe before it goes on display.
- Update and reprint labels every time an ingredient or supplier changes.
