Why you need it
Once a meal leaves your kitchen you lose sight of it, but it is still your food. A leaking container, hot food cooling slowly or a mixed-up allergy order can all cause harm on the way to the customer.
Your food safety management system should cover delivery, including how long it takes and how temperatures are controlled.
What it’s for
Four steps from pass to doorstep: clean, secure food-contact packaging, insulated bags or cool boxes with hot and chilled meals kept apart, clearly identified allergy orders, and a proper handover to the driver with food and allergen information. It belongs at the packing station.
How to use it
- Fix it above the packing station so it is in view as orders are bagged.
- Close every container securely and check for leaks before it goes in the bag.
- Keep hot and chilled meals in separate insulated bags or cool boxes.
- Mark meals made for an allergy request clearly and check they go out with the right order.
- If a delivery cannot be made safely, deal with it straight away rather than sending it out.
