Customer Allergy Notice

Why you need it

If you give allergen information by talking to customers rather than writing it down, you must make clear in writing, on the menu or on a notice, that they can ask staff for it. This poster does that job.

It also encourages customers to speak up before they order, which gives your team time to check ingredients properly.

What it’s for

A clear customer-facing notice asking people to tell staff about any allergy, intolerance or coeliac disease before ordering, and inviting them to ask about the allergens in your food and drinks. It belongs where customers decide what to order.

How to use it

1. Print it in colour on A4 and display it at the counter, by the menu board or at the entrance, where it is easy to read.
2. Make sure every member of staff knows where the allergen information is kept and who to ask.
3. When a customer mentions an allergy, pass it to the kitchen and check the dish against your allergen record.
4. If you give allergen information verbally, add similar wording to your printed and online menus.
5. Replace the notice if it fades or gets damaged.
