Description

Straightforward COSHH awareness for anyone working in a UK workplace. Six lessons cover what the COSHH Regulations 2002 ask of employers and employees; how to recognise hazardous substances, from chemicals, dusts, fumes and mists to biological agents; how to read CLP hazard pictograms and the two signal words; the four routes of entry into the body and the difference between acute and chronic health effects; and how risk gets controlled through Safety Data Sheets, the five-step COSHH risk assessment, the hierarchy of control and the correct use of PPE. Assessments are randomised, the final exam draws 20 questions from a bank of 40, and a personalised CPD-standard certificate is issued the moment you pass. Note: this awareness course supports safe working with hazardous substances but does not replace your workplace’s own COSHH risk assessment, task-specific training or the Safety Data Sheets for the products you use.

Frequently asked questions

Is this an accredited COSHH qualification?

This is a CPD-standard COSHH awareness course. It is ideal evidence of COSHH training for staff files, inductions and due diligence, but it is not a regulated Ofqual qualification. On passing you receive a personalised, verifiable CPD-standard certificate.

What does COSHH stand for and who needs this training?

COSHH stands for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health. This awareness course suits anyone who may encounter hazardous substances at work — office, cleaning, hospitality, warehouse, manufacturing and construction staff — as almost every workplace uses chemicals, dusts or fumes.

What does the course cover?

The COSHH Regulations 2002 and everyone's duties; identifying hazardous substances; reading CLP hazard symbols and signal words; the four routes of entry and acute versus chronic health effects; Safety Data Sheets; the five-step COSHH risk assessment; and the hierarchy of control including the correct use of PPE.

How long does it take and how is it assessed?

Around one to two hours at your own pace. Each of the three modules ends with a randomised assessment, and the course finishes with a final exam of 20 questions drawn at random from a pool of 40. The pass mark is 80%.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. When you pass, your personalised CPD-standard certificate — with your name, the course title and a verifiable reference code — is issued instantly and saved to your account for download.
